Walmart Super Center Construction Begins at Swansea Mall
July 20, 2012
Swansea Mall is pleased to announce construction has started for the Walmart Super Center. After several years of planning and approvals, the Walmart Super Center will now become a reality at Swansea Mall.
With the start of construction several changes will occur at Swansea Mall. On Monday, July 23, a portion of the back parking lots, from approximately Sears to the existing Walmart, will be closed. The inner ring road for this area will also be closed. A temporary construction fence will be installed to ensure traffic flows in the correct pattern. Click here for a map highlighting the closed areas.
Due to the construction, there are several changes that will be implemented and will be in effect for approximately two weeks.
- Entry # 2 near the public restrooms and Entry #3 near Deb will both be designated as “emergency exits only” and should only be used for emergency egress during the construction period.
- The bus stop will be relocated to Entry #1 near Ruby Tuesday.
- The US Post Office mailbox at Entry #2 will be taken out of service during construction.
The 158,000 square-foot Walmart Super Center is scheduled to open in the fall of 2013 and will be located adjacent to Swansea Mall’s Entry 2. Please check back often for construction updates and progress reports on our website and the center’s Facebook page.
